Este estudio analiza en qué carteras y en qué momento del mandato se nombra a exparlamentarios en los gabinetes chilenos, y cuánto duran. Muestra que se concentran en Interior, Segpres y Segegob, las carteras de coordinación política que más rotan, y que en las carteras sectoriales no duran menos que el resto. Su menor permanencia promedio es un efecto de composición, y entre los nombrados en el segundo cuartil del mandato solo un 16% completa el periodo, contra un 53% del resto, lo que es consistente con nombramientos de crisis.

Former legislators in the cabinet: In which ministries they are appointed, at what point, and how long they last

Abstract
This study analyzes in which ministries and at what point in the term former legislators are appointed to Chilean cabinets, and how long they last. It shows that they are concentrated in Interior, Segpres and Segegob, the political coordination ministries with the highest turnover, and that in sectoral ministries they do not last less than the rest. Their shorter average tenure is a composition effect, and among those appointed in the second quarter of the term only 16% complete the period, compared with 53% of the rest, which is consistent with crisis appointments.
