First pageResumen

Abstract
This study analyzes the relationship between prior parliamentary experience and the duration of ministers in Chile between 1990 and 2026. It shows that only 18.6% of ministers had been deputies or senators, that Sebastián Piñera's second government had the most former legislators (24 of 64), and that half of all ministers do not cover 40% of the period for which they were appointed, although those with legislative experience show more regular trajectories and fewer cases of extreme tenure.
