Abstract

This study analyzes the electoral reform proposed by the Constitutional Council in 2023, focusing on the reduction of the number of seats in the Chamber of Deputies from 155 to 138 and the decrease in district magnitude from a range of 3-8 to 2-6 seats. Applying predictive models, it anticipates that these changes could reduce the Effective Number of Parties (ENP). The reform seeks to contain party fragmentation.
